This is an infection. Fish infected with Cryptobia are listless and swims abnormally. They become emaciated with sunken eyes and pale gills. Pale gills are an indication of a lack of red blood cells. Disease can be seen in marine and fresh water fish. Aquarium fishes are rarely affected.
